From keeping our buildings in pristine condition to safeguarding the security of our people, our Trades and Services team are a vital part of the smooth running of the Service.

The roles
As a Security Officer, you'll help to provide round the clock security at our London headquarters in Vauxhall Cross. It's not about brawn. It's about being alert, watchful and calm under pressure. You'll also be the first person to welcome visitors to the building, so you should have strong people skills too - and be willing to work some unsociable hours. It's very worthwhile work. After all, you'll be protecting the people who safeguard the security and prosperity of the nation.
Join our Facilities and Maintenance teams and you'll get involved in everything from portering duties and sorting the mail to assembling office furniture. Flexible, helpful and a hard worker with a good team spirit, you'll be an important member of the team.
One day you could be chauffering a VIP around London, the next making deliveries or overhauling the SIS fleet of vehicles. So as a Driver on our Transport team you'll need to be as adaptable as your job is varied. As well as being personable, with real tact and discretion, you're also willing to work unsociable hours.
Telephonists play a vital role in the work of the Service, linking busy teams with the wider world and other Government departments. You will need to be patient, resourceful and focused on customer care. It's a busy place, so your flexible approach, keen attention to detail and good humour will be invaluable. Finally, you'll need to be happy to work shifts and unsociable hours.
Although you don't need formal qualifications to join, a clean driving licence is essential for the Driver and Security Officer roles as well as the Facilities and Maintenance positions. Experience would be an advantage in all the roles.
