TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
SIS is committed to developing the skills of all employees and we have plenty of opportunities for you to learn and take on new challenges. On joining all Intelligence Officers take part in an intensive programme which provides briefing on the Service and training in the key skills. At the end of this programme, training staff will decide which of the three Intelligence Officer roles you are initially suited for. After that, training becomes more role specific.
Case Officers will take part in a comprehensive programme which teaches them how to recruit and run agents.
Targeting and Reports Officers attend a training course providing the operational skills to plan and manage operations. It also covers collating, assessing and disseminating intelligence.
We also provide security training and advice to all those who are posted overseas. After this, training to enhance or broaden professional skills is provided as required. It will reflect your individual development needs, which will be identified during your performance appraisals. There may be opportunities to learn new languages, improve existing language skills and develop technical skills on in-house and external courses.
