Intelligence Officers Skills

As an organisation that works across the world to collect intelligence, it's particularly important that we have a broad social and cultural mix in our workforce. Those from an ethnic minority background have a lot to offer us in this regard.  As do men and women with a whole host of life experiences, whether they are looking for a change from their current career in the public and private sector, or are recent graduates.

All our Operational Officers need to be intellectually robust with at least a 2:2 degree and a strong awareness of global politics.  Adaptable, flexible and intuitive, you have a high degree of self-awareness and the ability to read others and influence their decision-making. Finally, you also have the integrity, resilience and determination we look for.

While we are interested in people with language skills, particularly in Mandarin, Arabic, Dari, Farsi and Pashto, if you do not have existing language skills you will not be at a disadvantage in the recruitment process.  We offer opportunities to learn new languages once you have joined SIS.

Case Officers:  These roles call for individuals with strong people skills who can influence and persuade others across cultural and linguistic boundaries.  If you're bilingual or come from an ethnically diverse background, you'll be welcomed for the particular skills and insights you bring.

Targeting Officers:  You'll need to have strong influencing skills, as well as the ability to digest large amounts of information and then make sound judgements based on this intelligence.

Reports Officers:  An incisive mind, a proven ability to master complex briefs and strong communication skills are essential for these jobs.
