Technology - Ensuring we have outstanding - and secure - IT systems to communicate internationally.

Operational Officers - Collecting, analysing and reporting global secret intelligence.

Corporate Services - Working in a range of departments, leading projects on anything from event organisation to the management of intelligence records.

Language Specialists - Translating intelligence from around the world.

Trades and Services - Maintaining our properties and our security.

Steward

London

We're looking for a Steward to serve food and drinks to VIPs who visit us at SIS.

Courteous, smart and highly efficient, you'll do everything from helping out in the kitchen to polishing silver; preparing the dining room to serving guests as well as clearing up afterwards. Because you'll be working with food, you'll need to have a basic knowledge of Hygiene and Health and Safety regulations.

As you'd expect from an organisation that exists to collect intelligence from around the globe on behalf of the Government, we have a large number of foreign guests, so you'll need to be aware of their individual customs and practices and act accordingly. Many of our visitors are very senior individuals, so you should also be someone who is comfortable dealing with people at this level, and possess a friendly yet highly professional demeanor. In addition, complete discretion is absolutely vital.

Ideally, you'll have worked in an environment where you've served food and made guests feel welcome (or you'll have an NVQ 2 in Housekeeping). You should have knowledge of how a kitchen is organised and understand how dishes are created. You have plenty of initiative and you're happy to work alone as well as pitching in with a small but busy team. You're not easily flustered and can take last minute changes of plan, like the sudden arrival of extra guests, in your stride. You'll also need basic first aid training and the willingness to be flexible over hours.

In return, we can offer you the chance to work in a close-knit, dedicated team and the opportunity to be part of an organisation that's protecting the security of the UK. We also offer some great benefits, including a Civil Service pension.

You must be a British citizen to apply. Please do not discuss your application with anyone. Also bear in mind that the security vetting to take up this role will take up to three months.
