About SIS and IT

Here at SIS (or MI6 as you might know us) we operate a global intelligence gathering organisation. The nature of our work means it isn't just important for us to stay informed; it's vital to our operational capability. We make sure that all the information we gather is stored in a way that optimises its usefulness. And we make sure that everyone from operational officers in the field to administrative teams in London has access to that information to enable them to make the right choices in their jobs and safeguard Britain's security and economic prosperity.

The skills you'll need

In this interesting and challenging role you will be making sure those individuals and teams are kept informed on current affairs. You'll help to answer specific research and reference enquiries, provide one department with a dedicated service and train users from across the organisation on resources and search techniques.

For that to happen it will involve indexing and cataloguing library resources as well as setting up both regular and ad-hoc alerting on particular topics. It means that as well as being passionate about providing excellent customer service, you will also need previous experience of working in an information team and hold a professional qualification in information science or librarianship.
