"I am incredibly proud to be leading a much more diverse service than the one I joined"
I am delighted that SIS has been ranked 36 in the 2016 Stonewall Workplace Equality Index (WEI), breaking into the top 100 for the first time.
The index is an important benchmarking tool which enables us to assess our progress on LGBT equality, demonstrate evidence of our achievements and highlight areas where there is still room for improvement.
This year's breakthrough result reflects our sustained efforts to make SIS a fairer and more inclusive place to work, not only for our LGBT staff, but for all our employees. As part of that process, I was recently pleased to support Stonewall's anti-bullying campaign by signing the #NoBystanders pledge and underlining our ongoing commitment to tackle discrimination in all its forms.
As a Service we have a responsibility to enable all staff to flourish and demonstrate their full potential and I am incredibly proud to be leading a much more diverse Service than the one I joined.
I would also like to congratulate MI5 on their truly remarkable WEI ranking. These positive results for both Agencies are more steps in the right direction. I'm determined this trend will continue.
